Blame it on the Blood Moon - Fluid Abstract Painting

Delon Govender, Blame It On The Blood Moon, 2018. Acrylic pour on canvas, 760mm(h) x 1560mm(w).

In this acrylic drip and pour artwork, Blame It On the Blood Moon, the innate chaotic nature of humans and its consequences on others has been explored. The black market ivory trade with elephant abuse and slaughter is one industry that has arisen from human vanity and greed; and by using those who have little to support themselves to do the dirty, blood stained work. Why do people behave like this? The desire for beautiful things is perhaps intrinsic. The desire to murder is not.

However, for many decaying souls, slaughter and elegant tastes seem to go hand in hand.

They will never blame themselves for it, though. They will blame the art itself. They will blame what beauty is and isn’t. They will blame and speak about the degradation of moral values when they have pools of wealth. Or they will talk about how to make a lot of money - blame it on poverty, blame it on lack of government support, blame it on someone stealing money or unrest or unfortunate incidents.

The inner, chaotic nature of humanity is unveiled, the sick twisting of morality into something disfigured. But they will never blame themselves, or look inside to see what is misshapen.

No.

They blame it on the Blood Moon instead.

This impressively richly textured, thought-provoking and modern contemporary fluid abstract painting is a perfect option for living or office spaces, to add a bold and exquisite statement to finish any room: from local West Australian, Perth-based Artist, Delon Govender.
